Glass identification
Review the pane appearance, markings, thickness indicators, tint, texture and how it is held in the frame.
Window repair intent
Replacement planning for cracked, broken or otherwise damaged window panes. We review the existing glass, frame, seals, hardware, exposure and access before confirming whether the pane can be replaced within the current window system.
What gets checked
A useful assessment includes the frame and operating parts around the damaged glass, not only the visible crack or break.
Review the pane appearance, markings, thickness indicators, tint, texture and how it is held in the frame.
Check the glazing beads, seals, hinges, handles, stays and any visible frame distortion or corrosion.
Consider the floor level, internal and external access, nearby property and weather exposure before planning removal and fitting.
Initial review
Do not lean outside or handle unstable broken glass to take a photo. Send only details that can be gathered safely.
Review the pane, frame type, opening method and visible damage.
Measure the opening and note details that affect glass fabrication.
Confirm the proposed glass and any separate seal, hardware or frame work.
Fit the agreed pane and check the window interface and operation.
Window replacement FAQ
That depends on the frame condition, glazing method, seals and hardware. The existing frame can be assessed to determine whether a pane-only replacement is appropriate or whether related work is needed.
Photograph the complete window from inside, the damaged pane, the frame corners, handles or hinges, and the exterior view if it can be taken safely. Include approximate width and height.
The current pane can be reviewed for tint, texture, coating and thickness. Exact matching depends on identification and availability, so any proposed glass should be confirmed before fabrication.
